Evaluate The Results
The final step in a structured problem-solving process, where you assess whether the implemented solution worked and consider what could be done differently if it didn't.
THE IDEA
7. Evaluate The Results
After implementing a solution, assess whether it worked. If not, what could you do differently? Perhaps something unexpected happened, or you didn’t get hold of the information you needed. We can all try our best, but there are lots of things in life that are beyond our control.
Even if things didn’t quite work out as you hoped, give yourself lots of praise. You tried something new, and that’s something to celebrate. Remind yourself that problem-solving is a skill. Like all skills, it becomes easier with practice.
When to use it
Reviewing the effectiveness of a new business strategy after a quarter.
Assessing the impact of a change in classroom teaching methods on student engagement.
Evaluating a personal habit change, like a new exercise routine, after a set period.
FROM THEORY TO EVERYDAY LIFE
In practice
Team project outcome review
After implementing a new project management tool, the team reviews whether deadlines were met and communication improved. If not, they consider alternative tools or training.
Personal goal assessment
After following a study plan for a month, you evaluate if your grades improved. If not, you reflect on what hindered progress and adjust your approach.
A MOMENT TO REFLECT
Put it to work.
Did the solution achieve the desired outcome? Why or why not?
What unexpected factors influenced the results?
What would you do differently next time to improve the outcome?
